Leo Morello, CelloLeo Morello was born in 1994 in Italy. At the age of 12 he started studying with Enrico Bronzi, with whom he still studies at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. At the age of 18 he obtained his first diploma degree in cello at the "Coservatorio Steffani, Castelfranco" with full marks and honor. In 2017 he will be studying at the "Hanns Eisler" music academy in Berlin in the class of Stephan Forck. Very important for his musical development were also the encounters with the cellists Antonio Meneses, Giovanni Gnocchi, Francesco Dillon, the pianist Marino Formenti and the violinist and conductor Reinhard Goebel. Particularly interested in the contemporary repertoire, he founded with fellow colleagues at the Mozarteum the New Art and Music Ensemble Salzburg, with which he performs regularly in Europe. He also appeared as a member of "Alter Ego Ensemble" (Rome), Chromoson Ensemble, International Ensemble Modern Academy, and as principal cellist of the "Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna". This brought him to perform numerous premieres and to close collaborations with composers such as Enno Poppe, Achim Bornhöft, Matteo Franceschini, Jose Maria Sanchez-Verdu, Jose Manuel Lopez Lopez, Klaus Lang, Salvatore Sciarrino. He's a scholarship holder of Villa Musica, Mainz. Since 2015, he is the new cellist of the Salzburg-based "accio piano trio", with which he regularly tours Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK. In 2014 he appeared as a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra. He performed in festivals and concert seasons such as Klangspuren Schwaz, Festival di Portogruaro, Abu Dhabi Festival, Sydney Opera House, Megaron Thessaloniki, Philharmony of St. Petersburg, Daegu Contemporary Music Festival, Impuls Festival Graz, aDevantgarde Festival München. |
